The Eclectic

Stuff I find interesting …

  • The symbolism of Chicago’s Flag
  • {some term} Hacks: There are many publications which relate to some particular kind of Hack; there are Life Hacks, Mind Hacks. Cleaning Hacks and many more. I suppose the linked page will be open to all kinds of hacks. One type of hack I particularly enjoy involves solving problems by creating solutions which make use of everyday stuff. I think I need to join a hackerspace!
  • Aircraft: Items of interest which stem from my time with the United States Air Force and Delta Air Lines
  • NASA’s Eyes: An amazing app from NASA/JPL/Cal Tech. Includes a TED talk link on the subject.
  • CRISPR: What you need to know (Ted Talk). Should we bring back the wooly mammoth? Or edit a human embryo? Or wipe out an entire species that we consider harmful? The genome-editing technology CRISPR has made extraordinary questions like these legitimate — but how does it work? Scientist and community lab advocate Ellen Jorgensen is on a mission to explain the myths and realities of CRISPR, hype-free, to the non-scientists among us.
